If you were to do a tribute act to one of burlesque’s leading ladies, Audacity Chutzpah, what should it be like? We asked the lady herself…
“It would have to be based on something I really love. They’d have to be dressed as a giant pea. Or a goat. It would be very deadpan: really taking it very seriously.
“Doing some kind of serious pea dance. Interpretative dance dressed as a pea. Performing to something like Kate Bush. Something like ‘Wuthering Heights’,” Audacity Chutzpah told Burlexe.
“Actually, I might do that act – something “waily”. One of the best things I’ve ever seen was when I went to an interpretative dance show where a woman read the lyrics of ‘Flashdance’ seriously. No irony. She was the most librarianish woman. So brilliant.”
Lets all imagine it with Kate Bush’s iconic music video:

Burlexe is a sensational London burlesque show inspired by the women who created the genre and perform the art. It fuses burlesque performance with storytelling, dancing with acting.
We love to showcase UK burlesque performers and share the stories of these wonderful women who perform burlesque. Audacity Chutzpah is one such woman.
