You have to have funny faces and words, you can’t just have words. It is a powerful thing, and I think that’s why it’s hard for people to imagine that women can do that, be that powerful.
Ellen DeGeneres has won 13 Emmys among a string of other awards for both acting and her charitable work. Likewise she is well known for her stand-up comedy and television hosting.
Ellen DeGeneres is also a proud member of the LGBT community, pushing the boundaries by coming out on The Oprah Winfrey Show and then exploring such issues on her sitcom, Ellen. Though, Ellen DeGeneres has become an iconic figure in entertainment more so for her compassion and lovable persona.
You can see this in her comedy and her hosting. She said, “Most comedy is based on getting a laugh at somebody else’s expense. And I find that that’s just a form of bullying in a major way. So I want to be an example that you can be funny and be kind, and make people laugh without hurting somebody else’s feelings.”
She added, “The world is full of a lot of fear and a lot of negativity, and a lot of judgement. I just think people need to start shifting into joy and happiness. As corny as it sounds, we need to make a shift.” Here here!
And Ellen DeGeneres is true to her word. This quote is one such example, “You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She’s 97 today and we don’t know where the hell she is.”
There’s also a sense of whimsy to her comic stylings. She said, “Just go up to somebody on the street and say ‘You’re it!’ and then run away.” We’re game.
We can’t get enough of Ellen whether she’s waiting for Pamela Anderson to strip off, ogling Katy Perry or teasing Burlesque movie star, Kristen Bell. We love you, Ellen DeGeneres.
