Celebrations, fundraisers and talks will be happening across the country this 8th March to support women from across the world in your local area. Happy International Women’s Day!
Happy International Women’s Day
The Blue Stocking Society has kicked off the festivities early by making their West End début of Bluestockings Go West! on 2nd March at the Seven Dials Club. The Cabaret Award nominated show celebrates womankind by ‘putting the power well and truly back in women’s hands’. Not to mention the sorority’s co-founder is, friend of Burlexe, Audacity Chutzpah.
There’s still plenty to be seen, however, with the International Women’s Day Conference at City Hall. This year’s theme is ‘nurturing female entrepreneurship through the power of collaboration’ and it’s free. The event will also see Mayor of London, Boris Johnson make a speech. Bookings must be made in advance so e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org soon for your chance to be there.
Not to overlook the Southbank Centre’s annual Women of the World Festival (WOW). The weekend will revel in the achievements of women and explore the obstacles that stand in their way, beginning today and lasting until Mothering Sunday. To get your day ticket, find events and join the discussion head over to WOW.
Alternatively you can go to one of the hundreds of events near you like Sister Solidarity at Spitalfields’ International Women’s Fair this Sunday. Artwork, photography, crafts and food of the world will be on sale and entertainment from LIPs Choir, the Blitz ballroom dancers and Missbee Made Jazz will keep you on your toes while you shop. Admission is free, starting at 10am till 5pm with a tour of the Women’s Library running from noon to 2.30pm.

It may not be the season but enjoy Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
Burlexe is a sensational London burlesque show inspired by the women who created the genre and perform the art. It fuses burlesque performance with storytelling, dancing with acting.
We’re wishing you a happy International Women’s Day to celebrate the annual day to celebrate women which we do every day.
