Last month we shared our excitement about the Christian Louboutin exhibition London and its cameo from Dita Von Teese. Now we’ve got a look behind-the-scenes with this making of video.
The Christian Louboutin retrospective celebrates his 20 years in the industry and is inspired by fairgrounds and cabaret shows. It includes a shadow theatre and fetish room. There’s also photographs by David Lynch and a recreation of Louboutin’s Paris studio, according to De Zeen. Clearly Dita Von Teese fits this motif perfectly.
The Dita Von Teese hologram begins with a red sole shoe fit for a showgirl. Now they’ve got our attention. The entire red shoe is encrusted with Swarovski crystals. The sparkles would put Dorothy herself to shame.
The heel rotates and transforms into famed burlesque dancer, Dita Von Teese, performing an elegant striptease. The modest display sees her stop at her undergarments before two more Ditas appear.
The pair dance in unison with Dita Von Teese and morph again into another dazzling pair of stiletto heels. This time it’s silver Swarovski crystals but a plan red sole shoe. Finally we’re left the vertigo-inducing design.
Now, the company behind the Dita Von Teese hologram has released a behind the scenes video. You’re given a look at the making of the visual effects, interviews with the creators and, of course, Dita Von Teese herself.
The Dita Von Teese burlesque dancing has been choreographed to showcase the shoes. Plus, you’ll notice that even her burlesque costume is red underneath.
We’re also loving the synergy of the hologram as illusion combined with burlesque and glamour. Watch how the Dita Von Teese hologram was made.
