The lovely Miss Von Vamp from the Midlands got in touch with us. *waves* Hello! She’s only just had her burlesque dancing anniversary or as we like to call it ‘burlaversary’. We talk to her about her life as a burlesque performer.

How did you get started as a burlesque dancer? “I absolutely adore burlesque and came across it at school when I was 15, my love grew from there. I was lucky enough at 17 to get in to a burlesque show, The Candy Box Burlesque which made my passion for the art grow and grow until September ’09 when a little drunk and a little too excited, I did my first performance.
“I overheard the compère say a girl had pulled out. I jumped up and announced to the compère that I’d give it a go if anyone had spare pasties and since then I’ve never looked back!”
What advice would you give to burlesque performers starting out? “Don’t try to run before you can walk. Don’t copy anyone! Work hard, research burlesque, research other performers and most of all have fun! If you want help from a more well-known and established performer, just ask!”

Burlexe is a sensational London burlesque show inspired by the women who created the genre and perform the art. It fuses burlesque performance with storytelling, dancing with acting.
We love to showcase UK burlesque performers and share the stories of these wonderful women who perform burlesque. Miss Von Vamp is one such woman.
