Comedy has just lost a heroine and a pioneer, Phyllis Diller RIP.
Phyllis Diller RIP
A pioneer for women’s comedy, Phyllis Diller, will be warmly remembered after her death at age 95. She opened doors as a female comedian and stand up comic though much of humour was self deprecating or about her fictional husband ‘Fang’.
See her performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1969:
For her story, let us refer you to The Guardian but let us leave you with a pearl of her wisdom:
“A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.”

Burlexe is a sensational London burlesque show inspired by the women who created the genre and perform the art. It fuses burlesque performance with storytelling, dancing with acting.
We look to influential and successful women as our inspiration and Phyllis Diller is one such woman.
