Unique London burlesque show Burlexe returned to its original stomping ground the Shadow Lounge in April for another run of shows.
In 2014, we cast Burlexe as a three-woman outing, starring r’n’b singer Kele le Roc as hostess together with London Academy of Burlesque Jo King and long time-collaborator Burlexe-collaborator Chloe Ewart in acting roles and burlesque performances.
Unique London Burlesque Show
Again, the show took place in Soho’s then Shadow Lounge to give it a true experiential feel and of course we had burlesque from the very best of the UK’s burlesque scene including Beatrix Von Bourbon, Fancy Chance and Amber Topaz.
Also performing burlesque was Jo King, who wowed to Madonna’s Like It Or Not while Chloe Ewart’s unhinged debut as Lady Mei thrilled – nobody could believe she had never burlesqued before.
Below you can get a glimpse of what audiences got to experience…

Kele le Roc bringing down the house with the emotional, I Gotta Sing My Song
Chloe Ewart in a backwards strip: “My story is about love and death.”
Jo King performing the monologue inspired by Satan’s Angel: “As far as empowerment for women is concerned, I was empowered from the moment my mother spit me out.”
In a monologue inspired by Tura Satana, Chloe Ewart hits home with: “You have to make sure you’re never a victim, you’re always a survivor.”
And inspired by performer and producer Ann Corio, Jo King brings down the house with: “We sell the sizzle not the sausage.”
