This month Dita Von Teese has revealed her surprising past, re-opened her online store and given compelling interviews. She has been seen modelling some new specs and finally made it to the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend stage. Here’s all the deets.

Dita Von Teese is sharing more of her secrets. Speaking to Elle she was uncharacteristically outspoken about why she created her perfume.
Dita said, “Once upon a time, there were perfumes that didn’t smell like little girls and candy and sweetness and vanilla. I mean, Marlene Dietrich would not have worn a perfume that had vanilla in it.
“And so many celeb scents smell like stripper spray. I’m a stripper and I work in strip clubs, but I don’t want to douse myself in it and smell like one!” Meow!
She also spoke to StyleLikeU about what led to her career. She said, “I felt like I couldn’t relate to a lot of the modern standards of beauty.”

Dita Von Teese Tour

Dita Von Teese announced on her WhoSay that Lada Nikolska from Crazy Horse Paris will be joining her on tour. She’ll perform the iconic Leçon d’érotisme routine (above) in San Francisco.
In the run-up to the Burlesque: Strip Strip Horray! performance Dita spoke to The Fillmore. She discussed how her audience has changed over the years.
Dita said, “I think a lot of women are looking for some kind of interesting spin on erotica and there are different kinds of role models for eroticism and sexuality that people are looking for other than what we’ve seen in the mainstream media.”
She added, “A lot of women tell me they want to be a burlesque dancer but they are paralysed about getting on stage—they shouldn’t be a burlesque dancer.
“There are lots of ways to enjoy the burlesque scene without having to go on stage. You can capture the spirit of burlesque and strip tease without having to be a professional dancer or having to go onstage in front of an audience. Here here!

Hollywood pin-up, Dita Von Teese also revealed on her WhoSay that she will be adding her Bird of Paradise number to Strip Strip Horray!. Expect pink feathers galore and a swinging good time.

She also wrote, “Trying to put the final touches on my beauty book, but our guest editor is sitting in the manuscript.” The guest editor is her adorable cat. As long as the cat isn’t in the Strip Strip Horray audience for the latest burlesque act, it will probably all work out.

Dita Von Teese wowed at the Fragrance Foundation Awards this month. The event, otherwise known as the FiFi Awards, saw the LA burlesque dancer take to the red carpet in this stunning gown. The floor-length, champagne Maria Lucia Hohan dress stunned onlookers and we can see why.

Last month saw the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas. Dita Von Teese made a unscheduled appearance to award bestie Catherine D’Lish one of the three Sassy Lassy awards.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, Dita Von Teese said, “In 1994, I finally had worked up the courage to compete in Miss Exotic World for the first time.” She added, “But when I found out Catherine D’Lish was competing, I chickened out.”
Dita Von Teese went on to describe Catherine D’Lish’s importance in the 90s burlesque revival. Catherine D’Lish said, “Being presented with an award by my bestie was an unexpected and heart-warming surprise!!!! We laughed, we cried…”
Catherine D’Lish’s amazing burlesque costumes have surpassed anything that has come before and set a new standard in the industry. She’s more than deserving of the award. Bravo!

DITA Sunglasses

Dita Von Teese and tattoo artist Mark Mahoney (of Shamrock Social Club) are the new faces of the DITA sunglasses range AW13. The eyewear line is inspired by 50s and 60s style and we likey.
Dita Von Teese spoke about the campaign on her Facebook. She said, “Dita eyewear is not actually my own brand, but was named after me in the early 1990s by founder and my close friend John Juniper.
“I had been using the name “Dita” since around 1991, and in 1993, he asked me if his new eyewear name could be called “Dita”. The first prototypes were photographed on me by John, and now, all these years later, we are collaborating on our first collection.”
The range will be available on Dita.com from July, though it’s technically an AW13 collection. We’re not complaining.
