Lingerie Advice

The wedding stress has all come together to create your special day and now it’s time to relax but you still want to look sexy doing it. Burlexe has all the lingerie advice on what you should be wearing, if anything.

Honeymoon Lingerie Advice

Whether you’re lying in the sun, on an exciting adventure or cozied up by the fire, we have the secrets to help you feel glamorous and smouldering on your romantic getaway, honeymoon or not.

What’s the perfect honeymoon burlesque inspired lingerie?

“A vintage silk dressing gown with enormous feather collar, the biggest necklace you can find dripping in faux diamonds, lashings of Body Glamour (moisturiser with a hint of sparkle) and a Vajazzle C string with tonnes of Swarovski crystal… (we currently only make these to order).”

– Alice Holloway-Smith, Holloway Smith Noir.

Corsets! They’re not for everyone but there’s no denying that these beautiful pieces just scream burlesque and there are styles to suit every taste from simple elegance to all-out glitz and glamour.”

– Estelle Puleston, Esty Lingerie.

“For us, the honeymoon is the time to allow your sultry, naughty side take over, so it’s all about dark lace and cinched in waists with deliciously revealing suspender belts! Our Morgana garter dress would look perfect teamed with an underbust corset to really accentuate your curves. The best view is from behind, with a high cut criss-cross back!”

– Anna, Playful Promises.

“An ostrich feather trimmed dressing gown is light to pack and wear, but is also luxurious enough to feel special and teasing. It is the perfect cover up for when room service arrives or if you want to sip cocktails on your veranda before venturing out for the evening.”

– Julie, BooBoo Burlesque.

“Not lingerie as such, but a cute vintage inspired bathing suit or bikini will add some silver screen glamour to your Honeymoon (don’t forget a parasol to shade you from those vicious rays). There are several companies who make reproduction swimwear and apart from WKD, we recommend For Luna and Red or Dead Swimwear both of whom are based in the UK.”

– Katie, What Katie Did.

What lingerie accessory would spice up your honeymoon wardrobe?

“A honeymoon is the perfect excuse to experiment with luxury lingerie that you may never have tried before. A lot of people like the look of pasties but have never dared to wear them, so a great compromise is to pack a pretty open-cup bra set with some matching pasties. Combined with the bra, it won’t feel like you’re revealing quite so much but the effect will be no less stunning!”

– Estelle Puleston, Esty Lingerie.

“No naughty night in would be complete without some eye-catching nipple pasties. Perfect for performing your own raunchy tease, wear these underneath a bra and slowly remove. Whether they remain on for long is up to you.”

– Anna, Playful Promises.

Tassels! Every time! A lot of women worry that they haven’t got the perfect accoutrements for tassels, but believe me – they make you feel incredibly sexy.  They make a nice surprise especially if you learn to twirl them – they’ll be mesmerised!”

– Julie, BooBoo Burlesque.

“Black fully fashioned stockings are an essential part of a honeymoon wardrobe, team them with a black suspender belt and you’re ready to go! All stockings in the ’40s and ’50s were fully fashioned (meaning they were knitted flat and the back seam actually holds the stocking together) and they’re still worn today by burlesque artistes including Dita Von Teese. Fully fashioned stockings are still made on vintage machinery from the ’50s which makes them expensive and delicate, but they’re silky smooth feel means that they’re really unbeatable.”

– Katie, What Katie Did.

Now you know what to put on, here’s a glimpse Ms Dita Von Teese taking them off as she shows a chat show host how it’s done, in case you missed it the first viewing we shared, with her new Von Follies line. It’s also worth a second look:
