We talked to UK burlesque dancer Millie Dollar to find out what’s the best advice she has ever been given. Hailing from Liverpool with her brand of bump ‘n’ grind burlesque, we find out how she shimmies her way into the hearts of audiences from London to LA.
Millie Dollar Burlesque Advice
Miss Millie Dollar ‘Worth Every Penny’ is known for bringing Las Vegas bump ‘n’ grind to the stages of Europe. She began performing her classic burlesque in 2006. With a nod to Sally Rand, rock ‘n’ roll, a rouge pout and a sparkle in her eye, she never fails to charm.
“I think the only advice wasn’t passed on, it was seen,” Millie Dollar told Burlexe.
She added, “Hard work is what will get you far, not lucky breaks. You can take your time onstage, people are there for entertainment, not to see flesh in less than one minute.” Here here!
Speaking about her inspiration, Millie Dollar told The Martini Lounge, “Lili St Cyr, Catherine D’Lish, Dirty Martini and Kitten Deville in burlesque, plenty of inspiration for anyone. But elsewhere I’ve been influenced in music by Irma Thomas, the films I watched, and my mother who worked my family through a lot of hard times.”
