Remembering Marilyn Monroe…

Marilyn Monroe

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right…you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Remembering Marilyn Monroe

Born June 1st 1926, Norma Jean Baker rose through the ranks to become one of the biggest stars that the world has ever seen. Current Vanity Fair cover girl and inspiration to a thousand performers both male and female, musical, theatrical and film.

Today would have been her 86th birthday. She’d have still been younger than Betty White, leading us to wonder how her later career may have panned out.

Despite her glamorous life and legacy as the face of 50s decadence, Monroe’s personal tragedy overshadowed her entire life, commenting, “The nicest thing for me is sleep, then at least I can dream.”

Subject to a resurgence in interest due to the US series Smash and the Marilyn Monroe 50 year anniversary fast approaching, this August, here’s to remembering Marilyn Monroe how she wanted, “to be loved, for myself and for my talent.”
