The Burlesque Hall of Fame has announced a new opportunity for a Sparkly Devil burlesque scholarship to commemorate the top burlesque dancer. Find out the details and why she is such an important figure in burlesque dancing.
Sparkly Devil Burlesque Scholarship
This year saw the Burlesque Hall of Fame suffer the loss of their founder, Dixie Evans. Earlier this month saw the iconic burlesque dancer commemorated and celebrated during Dixie Evans Week.
Unfortunately, as we announced in June, 2013 also saw the tragic loss of Sparkly Devil. The top burlesque dancer was a long-time Burlesque Hall of Fame Advisor and founder of the Legends Challenge fundraiser.
The Legends Challenge fundraiser raised money to help dozens of burlesque legends to attend the BHoF Weekend each year. While Sparkly Devil also dedicated herself to creating relationships between burlesque legends and the newest generations of burlesque performers.
In her honour the BHoF has created a Sparkly Devil Memorial Scholarship. This new wonderful opportunity will give one burlesque dancer the chance to spend the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend with the burlesque legends. They will be awarded:
– A four day pass to the BHoF Weekender;
– Admission to ALL of the Master Classes taught by the legends of burlesque;
– A four night stay at The Orleans, where BHoF Weekender is held;
– A place as an escort for one of the legends;
– A certificate of accomplishment.

The dates for the BHoF Weekend 2014 have also been announced. The 57th annual event will take place on the 5th-8th June. You can find out about tickets again on the BHoF website with application details coming soon.
This year saw the most successful Weekender to date. Record-breaking attendance, performer Selene Luna and the surprise appearance of Dita Von Teese made it an unmissable event. The museum also launched its latest exhibition, Not-So-Hidden Histories: Performers of Color in Burlesque which is already a crowd-pleaser. So, we for some, cannot wait to see what 2014 brings.
