This month, to our delight, Sophia Loren finally spoke about that pic of her throwing shade at Jayne Mansfield’s ample bossom. She said, “As she got more and more worked up, suddenly I found one of her breasts on my plate. I looked up at her, terrified…

“One especially quick reporter took a picture of the scene, and the image went around the world. I refused to autograph it.” You can read more on The Huffington Post.

In raunchier news, images from the upcoming Pirelli Calendar 2015 have gone viral. Previous models include Cindy Crawford, Alek Wek and Helena Christensen.

This year, however, is the first time they featured an actual ‘plus-size’ model on their glossy pages. Harper’s Bazaar has more on the astounding beauty, Candice Huffine (above) who just made history.

Famed fashion photographer, Mario Testino also gave us some showgirl inspo with his latest photoshoot. He took to social media to share this Kate Moss pic with the line, “Dreams do come true.” We couldn’t agree more.

Burlesque News

At Burlexe HQ we’ve been obsessed with the growing interest in historical burlesque dancing. Mashable shared glorious images of 1890 Victorian burlesque dancers that we just can’t get enough of.

The Guardian shared backstage photos of 1930s burlesque dancers. Whereas, The Huffington Post offered a visual history of 1950s burlesque performers.

Now there could be a Lili St. Cyr documentary in our future, according to Deadline. Too much fangirling right now.

Closer to home the World Burlesque Games 2014 saw British burlesque dancers rake in the titles. The raven-haired beauty Eliza DeLite (top pic) was the proud winner of the International Crown. Get the deets on the former British Female Crown winner on Leicester Mercury.

Meanwhile, Liverpool burlesque beauty, Mimi Amore won this year’s British Newcomer award. Head to the Liverpool Echo to see what she had to say about her win.

In shocking news, the infamous London venue, Madame Jojo’s is set to close following an incident outside their establishment. Claims have surfaced that this is actually thinly veiled gentrification, according to The Guardian.

The London burlesque scene may have lost one of its treasures but it’s still burgeoning on other fronts… Ahem. This month Vice featured beautiful female drag queens from the capital.

Amongst them is Burlexe poster girl Rubyyy Jones. She said, “You don’t have to shave or wear heels or be thin to be fierce or beautiful. I have no interest in being beautiful. I am beautiful.” Here here and here she is in their photoshoot.

LA burlesque dancer, Dita Von Teese has now enlisted the cast of her burlesque show to promote her lingerie line. In San Francisco this month the Burlesque: Strip, Strip, Hooray! performers posed in her collection.

The sexy ensemble includes fellow fabulous burlesque dancers Perle Noire and Dirty Martini. Find out more about the in-store appearance at Bloomingdale’s on SFGate.

November also saw the Australian release of Savoir Faire in Peacock Latte from Von Follies by Dita Von Teese. She teamed up with Myer to launch her SS15 lingerie line.

Dita told The Daily Mail, “I’m really excited about the evolution of the collection, and it’s exciting to work with someone like Myer who has picked up the more exotic and risqué pieces, all the pieces that I love best.”

Meanwhile, between trips to Mexico City and Kuala Lumpur, Dita found time to promote her lingerie in more enticing shades. The popular Madame X bra is now in blue.

Call us cliché but we can’t help but favour its other new hue, Lipstick Red.
