The sixth annual London Burlesque Festival will be held in 2012 from 7th to 13th May. One hundred burlesque and variety acts are expected to perform during the event, offering a little something for everyone.
World Burlesque Games 2012
The first event on May 7th will be the VIP Opening Ceremony at Madame Jojo’s. This intimate gala will feature both British and International burlesque stars and will be held between 7 and 11pm.
The official press gala, Triple Crown will be held on May 8th at Floridita. Performers will be challenged to incorporate extra dance genres, hidden talents and special surprise gimmicks to their signature routines between 7 and 11pm. Look forward to some innovative and interesting burlesque acts.
May 9th sees burlesque pushed even further for Twisted Crown at Madame Jojo’s between 7 and 10.30pm. This night will see surreal Performance Art, Twisted Cabaret and Neo-Burlesque. Expect carnivalesque, the pushing of boundaries and maybe the crossing of one or two lines to crown the freakiest burlesquer of them all.
There will be a combined show on May 10th for British & World Male Crown at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern from 7 to 11pm. The best of British and International Boylesque will take to the stage to be crowned King of male striptease and variety for your entertainment.
While May 11th will see two shows hosted at the Bush Hall. The first show will see the battle for the British Newbie Crown from 6.30 to 9pm. This will be followed by the World Newbie Crown that will be fought for from 9.45 to 12.30. Emerging solo acts and troupes will take to the stage to fight for a leg up in their career, it will be an undeniably intense evening.
The much-awaited British &World Female Crowns will be competed for on May 12th at Bush Hall. The crème de la crème of British burlesque will perform from 6.30 till 9 pm followed by the World competitors from 9.45 to 12.30. This is definitely the night for the most glamorous, creative and emotive performances of the event.
The VIP Closing Ceremonies will then be held on May 13th at Madame Jojo’s between 7 and 10.30 p.m. Both winners and special guest performers from the British and International burlesque elite will take to the stage ensuring the games go out with a bang.
