We’ve talked to some of our favourite experts to get the dos and don’ts for busy mothers and women everywhere. Now you can feel comfortable, femme and fabulous.
What would you recommend a yummy mummy who wants to add a little spice to her lingerie collection?
“Well obviously nipple tassels!! The great thing for a Mummy is that they make your boobs sexy again, but in a really fun way. Speaking from experience as a mum who breastfed, I think it can take a while for your boobs to become part of foreplay again without you feeling a bit icky, so having the functional bits covered with a super sparkly Swarovski tassel will make you feel special and glamorous without any unwanted flashbacks to suckling babes.”

“As a mother you need lingerie that is above all comfortable and practical since you’ll most likely be running around all day after the kids, but that doesn’t need to equate to boring. Instead of swapping your bra set for a corset or basque which looks great but isn’t all that practical, look for more luxurious fabrics and details that turn a regular bra set into a beautiful one. Things such as silk or lace fabrics, velvet trims, beading and crystals can all look amazing, without being at all impractical to wear. And of course, there’s no harm in treating yourself to the odd corset or two for those times when the kids are with their babysitter!”

“Always metal clasp suspenders and nylon stockings preferably seamed. They make you feel incredibly feminine and nobody need even know but yourself and whoever you choose to share them with.”

What would you recommend for a yummy mummy who’s feeling more adventurous?
“Cooking in the nude with just your apron for health and safety, then call your partner back from the pub with a false minor emergency text (obviously you can only do this plan once otherwise you have issues with wolves etc). Be armed with the wooden spoon for when he sees your bare bum and you need to take out a little light frustration on him before allowing him to ravish you.”

“Swapping a two-piece bra and knickers set for a three-piece bra, knickers and suspenders one instantly adds glamour and luxury to your lingerie. If you invest in high-quality stockings they’re no less practical than a pair of tights, but ten times sexier!”

“A traditionally steel boned, duchess satin corset. You can slip a bolero or biker jacket over the top for if and when you’re feeling more adventurous, slip it off to reveal a stunning piece of underwear as outerwear that will look great with jeans or palazzo pants.”

“We start to sell a lot of our vintage lace bridal garters at this time of year. They make a really lovely gift and you can have the date of your mates wedding and their new initials hand embroidered on the label, for a really personal touch.”

“The weather is starting to warm up ever so slightly which can only mean one thing – bridal season is approaching! Since most brides like to get their lingerie sorted ahead of time, especially as it’s a good idea to try the dress on with the lingerie you’ll be wearing under it on the big day, I find that our bridal lingerie sales shoot up in early spring. We have well over 100 handmade bridal garters to choose from which are always a popular item, as well as gorgeous silk knickers by The Mistress Collection that we’ve been selling a lot of recently too.”

“Our boyfriend nightshirts which are great for taking on holiday – they double up as a sheer shirt for an evening and are perfect for adding relaxed glamour whilst you’re lounging on your balcony.”

What piece of quality underwear should no woman’s drawer be seen without?
“I’m a big believer in individuality, but whatever your taste, shape or fetish I would hope that every woman would treat themselves to an item made in sumptuous silk. Watch out though, once you’ve tried it you may never go back to polyester again.”

“A black lace bra! There’s nothing more classic than this, and it suits women of every age, shape and skin colour so it’s well worth investing in the highest quality, most beautiful black lace bra you can find. The great thing about black lace is that you can mix-and-match different pieces and they still always look like a set, so you can wear that same bra with a black lace thong one day, black lace boyshorts another and even silk French knickers another day for a completely different look.”
