We’ve been away an eternity, but we’re bringing a brand new incarnation of unique burlesque show Burlexe to the Brighton Festival for a very special pop-up performance on 21st May at the Komedia in Brighton.

We’re joining our long term collaborator Miss Glory Pearl, who’s both appeared in and been an inspiration for Burlexe, for Naked Girls Reading featuring Burlexe.
The show celebrates women, telling stories about, by and of burlesque artistes – a witty, pretty celebration of the feminine and feminist.
Naked Girls Reading was set up by Chicago-based burlesque artist Michelle L’Amour and is the world’s first nude literary salon and a global performance art phenomenon.
Burlexe brings together storytelling of a different nature through monologues, song and burlesque, bringing together the inspirational stories of showgirls and burlesque performers from today and yesteryear.
In the first half of our show, Burlexe will tell stories inspired by these performers and in the second half Naked Girls Reading will showcase extracts from literature about these performers, created by or about them. It’s a unique celebration of the art form.
And our show on 21st May features:-
– Glory Pearl is an ex-school teacher, advertising executive, trained pole dance and trapeze artist, who’s a legend on the burlesque scene and now making her name for herself as The Naked Stand-Up.
– Former reigning Alternative Miss World and Burlexe favourite, Fancy Chance is one of the best-known and best-loved performers on the UK’s cabaret scene.
– And introducing actress and clown, Holli Dillon who’s worked with acclaimed companies like Partizan, BBC, National Youth Theatre, Theatre Delicatessen and Finger in the Pie.
