A little over a year ago, burlesque dancer, Elle Dorado, performed her first burlesque dance. Now she has already nabbed one of the most coveted titles in the industry.
The former professional figure skater is taking the burlesque world by storm. She is rising up the ranks as a burlesque queen in a fittingly festive way.
Elle Dorado recently spoke to 21st Century Burlesque about her journey from figure skater to burlesque performer. She said, “The first burlesque show I ever saw was on vacation with my beau in New Orleans.
“We happened upon the House of Blues and there was a burlesque show on that night, Bustout Burlesque. That was my very first introduction to burlesque, and what an introduction! Coco Lectric, Perle Noire, Ruby Joule, Athena and Foxy Flambeaux rounded out the lineup.”
A cast that would knock the nipple tassels off even the most ardent burlesque fan. Thus began her determination to join their ranks and now Elle Dorado headlines that very burlesque night. Dreams do come true.
Unsurprisingly, Elle Dorado has infused her career in figure skating with burlesque dancing. In September 2013 she debuted her striptease ice skating act and by November was headlining the first annual Iowa Burlesque Festival.
She has given us the best burlesque Christmas present with her bump and grind style that sizzles on the ice and is the new sensation. Well you gotta have a gimmick.
We’ve even seen something similar created by Baz Luhrmann for Barney’s Christmas window in our burlesque fashion roundup. It’s no wonder this September saw her win the Queen of Burlesque 2014 crown at the New Orleans Burlesque Festival.
